LEARN TO IGNORE POLITICAL HISTRIONICS
One of the main features of the current liberal-oligarchic system is low-quality theatricality. All-sorts of actors are on the stage: from skilled performers of their roles to frank buffoons. Decorations are deprived of any aesthetic taste. Scripts by and large aren't original. But one performance changes another, and many viewers think that there is no alternative.
The histrionics titled "Nadiya Savchenko" could farely be called the most cynical in Ukraine's newest history. Hundreds of Ukrainians are in Russian captivity, and all the media attention had been focused at one single person, which got the people's title of a "heroine." The slogan "Free Savchenko" had became a sort of a national idea. The media had paid to this theme, along with Poroshenko's promises of a visa-free regime, much more attention than to the strategic issue of counteracting the Russian aggressor.
The "Heroine Savchenko" image was handy for Poroshenko, for pseudo-oppositional Timoshenko, and for ordinary passive citizens who refused to leave the comfort zone. At that time, many Ukrainian patriots, civic activists, in particular volunteer soldiers, were not only in Russian captivity, but also behind bars in Ukraine. These people needed real help (lawyers' fees, support during courts, etc.). Instead, Savchenko's support did not require any effort. Savchenko was somewhere far away, in Russia, and an outrageous comment or a post in a social network was seems the only possible way for an ordinary citizen to support her.
It goes without saing that Ukraine was obligated to rescue Nadiya Savchenko from captivity. Everyone must be returned home, and only then it must be clarified how exactly the one got there. But a person with sober critical thinking could not help but wonder about focusing on one person.
And so Savchenko returned to Ukraine, and the spectactle has gradually turned into a buffoon. Savchenko has proved to be a cynical and mentally inadequate person who popularizes subversive anti-state theses in society. But Poroshenko's popularity has already fallen to such point that Savchenko's populist thesises began to seem attractive to some people.
Recently the spectacle moved into a new stage. The authorities, with their incompetence in the case of Savchenko has turned her into a meaningful person. Recall, on March 22, Nadiya Savchenko was arrested under the accusation of preparing a terrorist attack in the center of Kyiv in cooperation with pro-Russian forces.
Having inexhaustible resources, Ukraine's oligarchs can easily stage new and new histrionics. They control the media. They enjoys the fact that society is already accustomed to impersonality. But Savchenko's history should teach many Ukrainians that it is not necessary to trust in what we see on the main stage. Real life, real struggle, real characters are outside the stage.
The fight keep going on the Donbass. Almost every month the system makes another strike to the nationalist movement. And yet, nationalists are becoming stronger every day, rallying, making their work more systematic. The epoch of political histrionics must end.
