A FEW-THOUSAND PRO-FAMILY RALLY WITH DEMAND TO BAN LGBT PROPAGANDA TOOK PLACE NEAR THE PRESIDENTAL ADMINISTRATION IN KYIV

On Wednesday, April 4, thousands of citizens filled the government quarter in Kyiv, demanding to protect the institution of family in Ukraine and preserve family values. The protesters went to the event specially from most regions of Ukraine.

Since 9AM the governmental quartal of Kyiv was full of demonstrators, who kept banners with slogans: "Initiators of anti-familial initiatives must held accountable!", "Gender ideology defames children!", "The law for families, Ukraine for families!", "Natural family is a healthy country!" Ruslan Kukharchuk - a chairman of the Vsi Razom movement and a co-organizer of the event, voiced the main demands of the picketers, that were: to exclude from the "National Strategy for Human Rights for the period until 2020" points and measures aimed at further legalizing same-sex partnerships; to maintain in the Constitution of Ukraine an article defining marriage as the sole union of a man and a woman; to exclude from the Labor Code the definitions of "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" as ideological and anti-scientific; to pass the law on prohibition of homosexual propaganda in Ukraine; to ensure the functioning of the post of the Government Commissioner for Family Affairs and appoint an authoritative personality to this post. The Cabinet of Ministers issued an authorized representative and collected the written requirements.

The reason for the action was the removal the Petition for ban the promotion of homosexuality and the protection of the family institution in Ukraine from the Internet representation of the Presidential Administration. The petition got more than 23 thousand signatures from 25 thousand necessary, 30 days remined to the end of signature collection when it was removed. 

"We are extremely indignant by the fact that the vote of almost 23 thousand Ukrainians has been canceled due to the demand of Oksana Filipyshina - a Representative of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on gender equality. This action is peaceful and it has a preventative character. We organized it urgently. But if we do not get all the answers, then the scale of street shares will increase significantly! "- said Adrian Bukovinsky, a co-organizer of the rally. 

Therefore, the Ombudsman's office became the obligatory object to visit. The protesters demanded explanations therein about the facts of promotion the LGBT ideas. Ms. Filipyshina wasn't at the workplace at all. People began to chant: "Philiphishina to resign!" The number of protesters was so great that people had unwittingly blocked the traffic in the the government quarter. Eventually, a representative of the Commissioner for Human Rights came out to the protesters and agreed to take over an application with requirements.

The last point of the traditionalist rally course was the Administration of the President of Ukraine. The picketers reminded the President the content of Article 51 of the Constitution of Ukraine: "The family, childhood, motherhood and fatherhood are protected by the state." In addition, they demanded explanations about the reason of the civic petition removal from the Internet representation of the head of state.

In their turn, the Presidental Aadministration representatives concidered the claims and promised to take the quickest respond. At the end of the action the officials confirmed that the state determines the family concept only as a marriage between a man and a woman.
