RUSSIAN CITIZENS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ISIS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED IN POLAND


Inspectors of the Department for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor's Office of Poland have brought charges of funding terrorists in the Middle East to four residents of the Russian Federation form Chechnya.

A spokesman of the district court reported that the indictment includes two charges. First one is regarding the detainees' participation in an organized criminal group, and the second is financing crimes related to the activities of the Islamic State.

According to the investigators the group had functioned in Poland from May to October 2014, in particular, in the cities of Bialystok, Lomza and Warsaw as well as in the territory of Turkey. The detainees sent funds for jihadists to Syria and Iraq. In total they managed to collect more than 8 000 EUR. 

In addition the RF citizens are suspect of recruiting fighters and providing help to a wounded jihadist, organizing his treatment in Poland and further trip to Turkey.

The court made the decision on their temporary arrest. The arrestees haven't admitted their guilt. Currently they face up to 12 years in prison.

In general, this isn't the first fact of detention citizens of the Russian Federation associated with the Islamic terrorists throughout Europe and in Ukraine in particular.
