ANNIVERSARY OF THE OPERATION TO LIBERATE ILOVAYSK

A year ago on this day the "Azov" regiment along with other volunteer battalions entered Ilovaysk and joined in the battle for the city.

From the beginning of the offensive, despite the false reconnaissance data received from the generals, the battalions faced fierce resistance of the Russian mercenaries.

In spite of the command's promises, volunteers didn't have any support at all. Soldiers of the battalions began the final phase of the offensive almost empty-handed, using only small arms. They didn't have neither cover of the heavy vehicles, nor artillery support.

At the right time, command of the operation to liberate Ilovaysk took the commander of "AZOV" - Andriy Biletsky. To avoid encirclement, Andriy Biletsky gave the command to retreat from the positions occupied in Ilovaysk. Retreat took place under heavy enemy fire, and any delay could cost even greater losses in volunteers.

One could speculate a lot on how everything would happen unless volunteers were given false information and if they received the promised support. But time passes, and one thing has remained unchanged so far: the leadership of our country acts out of incomprehensible to us, probably personal, interests, and not for the benefit of Ukrainian Nation.

We lost seven soldiers in Ilovaysk, the Heroes of Ukraine. We could talk endlessly about each of them. It's enough to mention Khoma, 18 year old boy who saved the lives of his comrades, having covered them from a grenade's explosion. Each of the fallen "Azovians" is another reason never to give up and go forward to the victory.
