OLEKSANDR SACHKO - ANOTHER PATRIOT HAS BEEN ARRESTED UNDER THE CASE OF MUCKACHIV SHOOTOUT
One and a half year after a resonance conflict took place in Mukachevo (the Zakarpattia region) between a local mafia gang leaded by pro-Russian oligarch Mikhailo Llanyo and the soldiers of Right Sector Volunteer Corps (DUC) the General Prosecutors Office has decided to increase the number of suspects. Quite predictable that it is not about a members of the mafia gang, but a Right Sector member.
The new suspect is Oleksandr Sachko, a former leader of the Zakarpattia branch of the Right Sector, a known civic activist, a veteran of the war in Donbass in the ranks of the 5th battalion of the DUC RS and the one, who has made great contribution to not let local pro-Russian mafia to turn peacefull Ukrainian Zakarpattia into another "people's republic." In May this year Sachko received a letter with notification of suspicion of a number of crimes. Then a vast part of Zakarpatia's civic activists and veterans of the Donbass war stood up for the nationalist.
Last month Oleksandr reported on his Facebook page that he received another letter, this one informed the activist that he was declared wanted.
In order to avoid accusations of hiding on October 24 he has arrived to the General Prosecutor Office, where had been arrested after a questioning.
Yesterday, October 25, first hearing was held in the Pechersk district court of Kyiv. The accusation has used a standard "repressive package" of the Criminal Code articles against Alexander; the indictment seems has been written in accordance with the Kremlin's propaganda manuals since the Right Sector appears in the document as a "criminal formation," and its activists as "gangsters."
Sachko is a known figure in the Ukrainian nationalist movement so new arrest has caused a public response. A big number of activists of the Ukrainian patriotic organisations (the Right Sector, Azov, S14, Svoboda) as well as a number of MPs came to the district court to support the arrestee nationalist. The prosecutor fled the courtroom, it appears that he wasn't ready to the proceeding. The hearing has been postponed to October 26.
The activists claim they will not allow Olexander to be imprisoned. They believe that prosecuting the activist the Prosecutor Office employees fulfill the order of Viktor Medvedchuk, a Ukrainian oligarch from Zakarpattia region and Putin's close friend who lobby the Kremlin's interests in Ukraine.
