Kremlin continue to sell the Russian land for rent: after China, they have made an offer to Mongolia

The Russian government have announced the transfer of 115 thousand hectares of land in Trans-Baikal region in rent for 49 years for Chinese corporation Zoje Resources Investment, now they considering the possibility to make a similar offer for Mongolian entrepreneurs. On Friday, July 26, said Deputy Prime Minister of regional government Alexei Chemetov.

"Soon we will see the results of such cooperation between the Trans-Baikal region and Mongolia" - Russian MP has stated after a joint meeting of representatives of the Federation Council and the Great Hural of Mongolia.

The contract between the Chinese party and the leadership of the Trans-Baikal region, which has already been signed involves the implementation of a joint project to develop the agricultural land of Transbaikalia, the area of which is slightly less than 0.25% of the total territory of the region. If the first stage of the Russian subsoil use from 2015 to 2018 will be considered as success, the Chinese authorities will receive another plot of land and the total area of the leased land will reach 200 thousand ha.

Now the area of Russian land transferred for the Chinese corporation Zoje Resources Investment is 115 thousand hectares (1,150 sq. Km). For comparison - the whole territory of Trans-Baikal region is 431,892 square kilometers. Accordingly, the Asian Partners received less than 0.25% of the total area of the region. Nevertheless, the size of the leased area is twice of the size of the capital of Transbaikalia region - Chita (534 sq. Km). Globally, the land which was rented for Chinese company in the eastern part of Russia is comparable to the area of individual states: Martinique (1100 sq. Km), Hong Kong (1092 sq. Km), Sao Tome and Principe (1001 sq. Km).
