REPORT ON THE WARRIORS TOURNAMENT "STRONG NATION" IN MARIUPOL (PHOTO AND VIDEO)

On September 12, in Mariupol's Gurov park was held the Warriors Tournament "Strong Nation," timed to the Day of Physical Culture and Sports and designed to promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth. The organizers of the tournament were the "AZOV" regiment and Civil Corps "AZOV" in Mariupol.

The whole event was styled after the authentic strongmen competition; sports equipment brought to the city for the tournament weighed more than two tons and was made in the image of Old Slavic sports devices.

In the city gathered patriots from all over Ukraine to see though their own eyes the performance of cosplayers from the Mariupol club "Polovtsian steppe" who demonstrated the medieval armor, weapon and technique of sword fighting, competition of the combat units and performance of Olexandr Lashyn, a well-known resident of Mariupol, 5-time winner of the contest "The Strongest Man of Ukraine," who served as a judge during the tournament. According to him, it was an honor to talk with brave boys who defend now our homeland.

The strongest men of Mariupol were greeted by the City Mayor Yuri Hotlubey who noted that it was important to refer to history and the Slavic roots. Mr. Hotlubey also thanked the Ukrainian military for peace and order in his hometown.

Many citizens of all ages, from the smallest to the elderly, came to support the heroes who protect Mariupol. Anyone could try real soldier's field kitchen, which, judging by the reviews of Mariupol residents, was very tasty. At the information tent of Civil Corps the activists organized a contest of children's drawings. The citizens of Mariupol could also take photos with the defenders of their native city.

The tournament also visited the leader of the AZOV movement, MP of Ukraine Andriy Biletsky, who underlined the need for such events to strengthen and enrich the fortitude of soldiers-defenders of Ukraine. Andriy spoke with the reporters and Mariupol residents who wanted to take a photo and an autograph.

In the tournament participated 8 teams: "Yadro" (Core) (artillery of the "Azov" regiment), "Donbas 1," "Donbas 2" (team of the "Donbas" battalion), "Poltava" (team of the patrol police service of the "Poltava" battalion), "L200" (motorized infantry of the "Azov" regiment), "East Corps," "Boatswain's group," (reconnaissance of the "Azov" regiment), and "Tiki" (tankmen of the "Azov" regiment).

The tournament itself consisted of three parts. The participants competed in the following exercises: "Stones of Atlanta" (team alternately puts three bags of different weight to the pedestals of different height), pulling KrAZ (weighing about 14 tons), "Rook" (the whole team carries a large deck the specified distance), "Tug of war" and "Triumph of the Will" (players take turns holding a dumbbell weighing 10 kg. in the outstretched hands). In the semifinal competed the following teams: "Donbas 1," "East Corps" and "Boatswain's group." The final was very spectacular and tense. Finally won the "Boatswain's group." Gunners from the team "Core" took the 2nd place; the 3rd place took "Donbas 1." The Tournament ended with awarding the teams and reciting the Prayer of Ukrainian nationalist. The winning team received the main prize from the hands of Andriy Biletsky - "Axe of Nation."

The event lasted about 5 hours. Even after the tournament at the playground remained many kids who did not want to leave. After the event the activists of Civil Corps cleaned the park. Overall, the holiday proved to be spectacular and impressive. The event was held for the first time in Mariupol. The townspeople were so pleased that asked when they may expect the next tournament. It seems that such an event should be conducted annually.
