COMMON STATEMENT OF UKRAINE'S POLITICAL PRISONERS ON A HUNGER STRIKE ON OCTOBER 30

In 1974, such outstanding fighters for Ukraine's independence as Vasyl Stus and Vyacheslav Chornovil, being a prisoners in Soviet concentration camps, initiated the "Political Prisoners' Day" on October 30. Since then, political prisoners of Soviet period have noted this date by a one-day hunger strike.

We are a political prisoners of the current regime forced to renew this date, same as our glorious predecessors, whose ideological successors we are. So we announce a one-day hunger strike on October 30, 2015.

Under the term "political prisoner" we mean a person, who was imprisoned because of his ideological beliefs and public activity related to policy, which was in favor of society, but prevented the current authorities and political system.

All we are the patriots of our country. We was in the forefront of revolutionary struggle against Yanukovych's criminal regime at Maidan, hoping that our efforts will help Ukraine to change in the better. We was in ranks of first volunteer units, which went to Donbass to defend the motherland from Russia's invasion.

Above all we love our Ukraine and its people. Unfortunately, in these positions we disagree with the current government. They reached the power through deaths of hundred of patriots at Maidan, and strengthened their positions through the deaths of thousands of patriots in ATO, who were betrayed by this government by fulfilling the enemy's requirements.

Now these people are trying to discredit us, they call us marginals, radicals, murders, etc.

This action is aimed to remind the society that the phenomenon of "political prisoners" in acceptable in a civilized country, which all we try to build. They cannot deny the fact of our existence.

We draw your attention to the trials of us. Just visit it to see the lawlessness that happening on the court sessions. Most of us were imprisoned groundlessly, they have proof of our guilt, but they can't to release us, because it would threaten to frankpledge between corrupt police, judges and prosecutors. 

We can't tolerate the fact that some representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Yanukovych's times are taking revenge on us for our participation in the Revolution of Dignity.

There are the people among us, who was imprisoned since Yanukovych's times. Unfortunately, we have to admit the fact that the same criminals, who sat in the Internal Ministry offices since Yanukovych's times are still there, some of them even been promoted.

We call on the society to draw attention to the injustice, exerted against us!"

The hunger strike action will be held tomorrow by a political prisoners in detention centers of Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv.
