"POLITICAL PRISONERS' DAY" A PUBLIC ACTION TO SUPPORT THE IMPRISONED PATRIOTS IN KYIV
A public action to support the political prisoners took place near Lukyanovsky detention center today, on October 30.
Recall, yesterday the imprisoned patriots announced a one-day hunger strike on October 30. Today hundreds of people express their solidarity with the prisoners of conscience and joined a hunger strike to express their protest against repressions and political persecution, been started by current Ukraine's government.
October 30, 1974, "Political Prisoners' Day" been initiated by political prisoners of Soviet regime in a number of USSR's prisons, the most part of whom was Ukraine's freedom fighters, dissidents, anti-communist activists. Since then they spent a hunger protest on this day every year. Few days ago Andriy Medvedko, one of a political prisoners of Poroshenko's regime announced restoring the predecessors' tradition during the last session of Appeal Court.
