OPERATION "WEST," ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO DESTROY THE UKRAINIAN IDENTITY

A forcible eviction of the Ukrainian people from the territories of Western Ukraine under code name the Operation "West" was initiated by the Soviet government on October 21, 1947. Over 76 thousands of Ukrainians were deported to Siberia during a day. The main objective of the operation was to weaken the Ukrainian national-liberation movement at the Western Ukraine's territories and further assimilation the Ukrainian people with other nations of the USSR to create so-called a "Soviet man." 

A decree "Of eviction families of the participants of the Ukrainian nationalist movement from western part of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic to Karaganda, Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Kemerovo, Kirov, Molotovskoyi, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk and Chita regions" was adopted by the Concuil of Ministrs of the USSR on September 10, 1947.

The Operation "West" was started on October 21 at 6 in morning under command of deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the USSR Dyatlov. 26,644 families, a total 76,192 people: 18,866 men, 35,152 women and 22,174 children were forcibly evicted during a day, according to the Soviet MDBs official reports, but a documentations of the Ukrainian nationalist underground of 40-50s show us much larger number of deported Ukrainians.

All these people were taken to Siberia and engaged in hard labours and mines "for the good of a Soviet fatherland." During the long journey to Siberia about a thousand people were attempted to escape, half of them were captured. 

The Soviet government covered their punitive actions under so-called "struggle with kulaks," a communist actions of forcible commandeering a property of Ukrainian landowners. However, even the Soviet statistics show that a most part of evicted Ukrainians has two cows and horses per family.

The Operation "West" is one of a crimes against Ukraine, committed by the Soviet Union as another incarnation of Moskovia and Khazar Khanate, who tried to destroy our nation since the Kievan Rus times.
