UKRAINIANS KARPYUK AND KLIKH WERE CONVICTED IN RUSSIA

Two Ukrainian nationalists Mykola Karpiuk and Stanislav Klykh were found guilty during the Russian court session in Grozny city on May 19.

Recall, both the Ukrainian polithical prisoners were detained in September of 2015 (worth note that Mykola Karpyuk has been kidnapped by the Russian secret services in Ukraine) and both they are charged in participation in the First Chechen War at the side of the Chechen freedom fighters.

"Mykola Karpiuk and Stanislav Klykh. The jury has found the Ukrainians guilty "of taking part in combat operations against federal forces during the Chechen war in winter of 1994-1995 as a part of the Viking detachment; killing and inflicting injuries to several dozen Russian soldiers". Karpiuk and Klykh have been adjudged guilty. However, according to the jury, Klykh deserves leniency. Karpiuk was emotionlessly holding on the bars of the cage listening carefully as his verdict was delivered. Klykh was reading a newspaper paying no attention to what was happening around him," Russian journalist Anton Naumliuk wrote on his facebook.

Few days before the court decision was announced Mykola Karpyuk had made a strong statement.

"That was  ne of the most heartfelt and sincere words I have ever heard in courts. He said he was tried not for the events that happened 20 years ago, but because he was a Ukrainian, and because of what Russia has done to his homeland. He said he felt no anger toward those who had tortured him and forced him to incriminate himself. He spoke of tortures, of how he had finally been intimidated by threats to do the same things with his young son. He expressed gratitude to the Ukrainians for their support, said he felt this care." The Russian journalist commented the Ukrainian nationalist's statement.
