AN OPINION ON SEVERANCE OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA

Two years have passed since the outbreak of war in Donbass, but only now a draft law on severance of diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation was developed by Ukrainian parliamentarians. 

Of course, we should not refuse the possibility that this theme could be raised in order to launch another social discussion in order to distract people's attention from a number of critical problems. First we have to understand, is that the war has continued for more that 2 years, and if this hand't happened before, this will not happen now, when the conflict has become protracted.

Nevertheless, the issue of severance of diplomatic relations with the Eastern globalist cosmopolitan state formation has been raised in the parliament, and if consider this law project as an accomplished fact, it looks quite positive.  

Firstly, in this case the conflict would reach a new importance level. It would not be a local conflict with a group of separatists, but will reach an international scale.

Secondly, that means that whole diplomatic corps of the Russian Federation must be expelled from the territory of Ukraine. In this way the Kremlin would lose legal grounds for presence of an institution, which provides legal protection of its agents in Ukraine.

By not recognizing the Russian Federation as a belligerent party in the conflict in Donbass and by maintaining diplomatic relations with this country we literally reduce Ukraine to the level of the Kremlin puppet republics of Donbass since the Ukrainian diplomats have to negotiate with the representatives of Donbass terrorist "republics" within the Minsk format.

Predictably, some politicians and "political experts" have started to speculate on opinion, that break of diplomatic relations with our Eastern neighbour will bring new problems for ordinary Ukrainians, who have business or relatives in Russia. But international trains will continue to ride and consulate departments will continue to work for solving various bureaucratic issues even if the diplomatic corps to be expelled.

In any case we will continue to follow closely the fate of this initiative. The attitude of representatives of the parliament and president administration to the draft law will reflect their relation to the country-aggressor.
