ODESSA 2016 - KYIV 2007, A HISTORICAL PARALLEL

Autumn of 2007, about a thousand of fanatics of the "Russian world" were marching through the center of Kyiv under protection of "Berkut." They were carrying the Russian tricolors, icons, banners, etc. Then there was not a lot of crazy elderly Stalin fans, the core of column was consisted of so-called "Cassacks." 


The Trehsvyatitelskaya street was a narrowest part of their itinerary. Exactly there few dozens of nationalists stood side by side to block the way for the "Russian world," and I was one of them.

However, we failed to stop them that day. A company of law enforcers from "Berkut" attacked us from the back shortly after we had blocked the street; almost all we were arrested those day and the "Russian march" continued his movement. Then Yuriy Lutsenko was an Interior MInister. (Yuriy Lutsenko was a part of Viktor Yushchenko's (pro-EU) team during the Orange revolution, now he is a member of Petro Poroshenko's block and a deputy minister of Internal Affairs).

Despite that we were growing up year by year, we had worked on our bodies and minds. And after a few years "Russian march" became a "Russian mince." Noone can even imagine a column of fanatics of the Eurasianist "Russian world" marching through the center of Kyiv, and that's a merit of nationalists.

Looking the photos from today's events in Odessa I remembered those events. And that's what I'll tell you - I'm very pleased with these trends! Step by step we are finishing with the "Russian World" zealots in our land. Nine years ago the balance of power between us and them in Kyiv was few dozens to more than thousand, and we have drove them out! And this will happen in Odessa and other cities. Neither local authorities, nor Russia or separatists in law enforcement cannot stop this process.

And let me finish at an optimistic note: two hundred years ago there was serfdom and the Russian Empire ruled on our lands. But after a hundred years the royal throne has already been destroyed. Then the Ukrainian republic was founded but after some time Kyiv was bombed by the Red Army leaded by Muravyov.

Today Moscow is bombing Donbass and try to start the same in Kharkiv and Odessa. According to the historical tendencies, after a hundred years battles will take place somewhere near Rostov, and after two hundred years the Mordor will fall! 

Of course, we will not see this through our eyes, but our successors will remember our names in that moment. So keep it up Odessa's brothers!
