WE HAVE TO DO AWAY WITH EURO-OPTIMISM
The uniqueness of the situation we have today in Ukraine is that there is a critical mass of passionarians in Ukrainian society, but big number of them are still under the influence of anti-passionate worldviews, and I would have united them under joint name "Euro-optimism."
This worldview is effectively connected with Europe since it is a Ukrainian myth about Europe. But the most paradoxical is the fact that this myth is directly contradicts to the values and aspirations of the Ukrainian revolutionaries, who had participated the events of Maidan.
"We have to fight villains!" says a Ukrainian patriot, while an Euro-Optimist tries to convince us that "negotiations with villains" is the best way to solve the problem (Let me recall, that the EU representatives have been strongly convincing us to stop expel Yanukovych during the Maidan events, and now they required from the Ukrainian government to stop expel Putin from Donbass).
"The nation and a struggle for our national rights are harmful ideas, which have to be rejected," an Euro-optimist told us while millions of Ukrainians have defending for their national identity, language and culture during the Maidan and in the battlefields of Donbass.
"Christianity is a savagery," an Euro-optimist tells us. At the same time we see, that clearly anti-Christian force has came to the power in Europe in last decades, and its representatives are imposing their ideology with same methods, as the representatives of totalitarian regimes of the past; they control media, education system and a punitive apparatus.
In fact, Euro-optimistic tendencies are a result of anti-passionate motivation of an individual, who siriencely believes that we have to follow the EU bureaucrats to reach wealth and peace. He believes that we have to refuse such "outdated" values, as the dignity, national pride and traditional religious values; in turn we have to accept "progressive" atheism, which equals all to zero.
And the point is not that the Euro-optimists offer us material wealth in exchange for our souls. Ultimately we would not even got his "wealth." Real wealth of Europe has a diametrically different essence. Of course, we can waste one more century for implementation of modern "European" tendencies in our land (two hundred years ago there were all sorts of populism; one hundred years ago - marxism; now - multiculturalism and gender equality), but that will gradually pull us into the Asian space, instead of make closer to Europe.
