AN INTERVIEW WITH "SKOLL." Englich, Italian versions

The Italian "right scene" focuses exclusively on classic fascism and naturally spreads the heroes of that period. A vivid proof of this – the performer milanese Federico Goglio and his band "Sköll". Their music is an attempt to demarginalize the right scene wihtout political claims or open aggression. The songs by "Sköll" are directed to a young generation of Italians, where fascism finds its own appropriate colors: red wine, bright sun and iron weapons combine into the ecstasy of a heroic struggle, as if it were background is progressively moving the past to the future, exhorting volunteers to exercise their rank. That's why we decided to talk with the leader of the "Sköll" to find out what the Italian "right scene" is and breathes.

- So, does your band name "Sköll" have a kind of abbreviation or an abstract concept? What does the name of the band mean?

- "Sköll" comes directly from the Norwegian wolf of the Ragnarok myth. The wolf that contributes to the "twilight of the gods". It is a myth of rebirth: the destruction of the existing order that begins the new life. Metaphorically, I liked connecting this Nordic myth with the idea of the destruction of today's world to rebuild it on the basis of an ancient order. Moreover, there is also a reason for "roots": northern Italy has received a considerable contribution from Longobardo (from which it derives the name of "Lombardy", the Italian region of the city of Milan, my city). The Longobards were a population of ancient Scandinavian origin (originally from Scania, the region of present-day Sweden).
- Tell me how old is the band "Sköll" actively acting on the right scene? How does the contemporary Italian audience perceive your music, with the aesthetics of the recovery of futurism and, perhaps, the idealization of the period to the Duce?

- I'm in music since the end of 1999. The band "Sköll" makes the first concert in 2000 and records the demo "Cosmo o microcosmo" in the same year: will officially be released in 2001, still on MC support! Since then, to date, I have produced (always with the historical Roman label "Rupe Tarpea"), 13 discs and over 100 songs! My audience, the audience who mostly listen the "Sköll", loves above all the theme of my songs, an alternation between songs dedicated to identity stories, heroism, sacrifice, men who have become great examples of Italians, and more personal, more intimate songs, often dedicated to loving themes.

- What attracts you to the heroism of the past? If you take the album "Marmofuoсo", there is a clear line... Italy, entering the Great War on the side of the winners, left the loser, for whom the leader of Fascism has glorified the ancient Roman tradition in the rays of Futurism.

- The heroism of great men of the past is not a dead opera, valid only for history books. Rather, it is a motif of inspiration for future generations. Great men are examples. In "Marmofuoco" I told an incredible Italian epic. In "Marmofuoco" I told about a generation of great Italians, their ideal momentum, their courage, their love for Italy. There is a statue in the center of Varese, a city in Lombardy... At the base of this statue there is a scripture: "Heroes are needed for other heroes to arise." Here is the sense of most of my music: heroes are examples, fundamental because they can inspire other men to follow their example.

- At the same time, your focus is on the "last romantic": Yukio Mishima, Eva Peron, Filippo Tomaso Marinetti, Gabriele D'Annunzio, Dominique Venner... If memory has not changed, there is also a message Giulius Evola and Ernst Jünger. Do you want a glorification of the degradation of the modern world? Can you say your music is a rebellion? Modern Italy to the European Union member takes your music? Do not you feel the hand of state censorship or concert bans?

- Certainly my music, the music of "Sköll", is the music of the opposite stream. The direction of the modern wind is another. Today, to be honored by Marinetti, D'Annunzio, Mishima (in their most intimate and authentic idea of life: muscle, action, courage, war, ardentism, patriotism) is a revolutionary work. In Italy, the music of "Sköll" is no longer unknown and begins to circulate even outside the politicized environment. Despite this (perhaps, especially for this!), Censorship to me has become stronger. The goal is not to give me space: the last episode of "silence" is the ridiculous deletion of the page dedicated to "Sköll" on Wikipedia. A long story to tell but the result of a pathetic campaign of censorship directed specifically at "Sköll".
- The Ukrainian right activists respect your colleagues like "ZetaZeroAlfa", "Drizzatorti", "Ultima Frontiera"... The interview with the frontman of "Sköll" is probably the first not only for you, but also for the Ukrainian fans of the Italian "right scene". What do you want to say your fans from a distant country in Eastern Europe?

- I'm an identity, I've also written a lot of music, dedicating it to stories and traditions far from Italian ones ... For this reason, I am always very happy to discover distant reality from my own who listen to my music and appreciate it. I greet all Ukrainian brothers. With a bit of irony I add a funny thing: I have already said that the Longobards from Scandinavia have contributed to the people of northern Italy... It is said that Swedish vikings, have also made an important contribution to the city of Kyiv. Then maybe we have some blood in common!..

- Cosa ti attira all'eroizzazione del passato?

Saluto tutti i fratelli ucraini.
