NATIONALISTS AND CHRISTIAN ACTIVISTS HAVE CANCELED PRESENTATION OF A LGBT-PROPAGANDIST CHILDREN'S BOOK AT THE PUBLISHERS FORUM IN LVIV
Ukrainian nationalists and representatives of Christian community have managed to cancel the presentation of a children's book consisiting an LGBT propaganda at this year's Forum of Publishers in Lviv. The activists claimed that a story of a lesbian couple and their daughter - that is the book's plot - is inapropriate theme that may adversely affect the formation of a Ukrainian young reader's consciousness. As was expected, liberal media hurried to accuse nationalists of intimidating the book forum organisators.
Yuriy Dadak - a sivil activist, poet, writer and a representative of the signatories of the open letter to the Forum of Publishers - said that there would be no provocations or other conflicts on the part of nationalist organizations.
"I speak on behalf of all: I am grateful that you have listened to our opinions. I can guarantee that all the security measures that were announced are superfluous. We operate exclusively in the legal field. In no way we didn't planed conflicts or power influence actions. We protect what is ours. I personally defend the future of my daughters and their right to a traditional family. I understand the other side's position: they also protect their rights. We live in a legal society. We will not allow violating our rights, but at the same time we try not to violate the rights of others. We take full responsibility for that representatives of the organizations that have signed the letter will not take any illegal actions. We have no complaints to any of the Forum's participants and to the organizers. They have fulfilled our request and we are ready to assist them if needed." - mr. Dadak said.
At the same time, the Forum of Publishers issued a statement few days ago that the organizers and participants of the event recaived threats, in particular, through the book "Maya and her mom" by Larisa Denisenko. In an open letter signed by fifteen NGOs, the planned debate entitled "Is the school ready to talk with to children on complex topics?" and the presentation of the book "Maya and her mothers" were called "a direct promotion of imposition upon schoolchildren of destructive principles that are contrary to the values and traditions that have been formed in Ukrainian society for centuries." The letter signatories (among them such organisations as: the Sokil, the OUN, the Pravy Sector, the Natsionalny Corpus Lviv and others) demanded to cancel the above mentioned events due to their contradcition to traditional moral values of Ukrainian society.
As for the very book - it was written by Larisa Denisenko - a known promoter of extreme liberalism in Ukraine - and funded by the Böll Foundation. As for the very book - it was written by Larisa Denisenko - a known promoter of extreme liberalism in Ukraine - and funded by the Böll Foundation. Talking about the foundation, there are few things that have to be mentioned. First of all - it is known fact that the Böll foundation has widelly funded all sorts of extreme leftist, cultural marxist initiatives. But what's more interesting - they actually symphatize Russia-backed terrorists of Donbass. In June 2014 the foundation's foreign representatives arranged a press-conference at the Maidanpress center in Kiyv, during which they were pouring dirt on Ukrainian government and society for "fascism" and claimed that we "supress the free speech by not allowing the "novorossia" public figures to speak frealy." As it was discovered, vast majority of the foundation representatives profess the ideology of cultural marxism. Some of its members were earlier involved in corruption scandals.
In general, in Ukrainian segment of social networks that all the fuss around the book and "threats from right radicals" has been risen deliberately by publishers, local Böll Foundation members and LGBT promoters as a PR-trick.
