FEB 6, ESCALATION OF THE SITUATION IN DONBASS

The situation on the front line continues to aggravate. Another record number of cases of ceasefire violation was recorded – militants opened fire 84 times. Terrorists use heavy weapons every fourth time (82 mm and 120 mm mortars). The so-called ‘sniper war’ continues. Ukrainian soldiers at the key defence points actively fire in response.

In the evening terrorists opened fire on Ukrainian positions near Novhorodske village. The enemy once used IFV.

Militants continue actively using heavy weapons near the Donetsk airport. Several sniper shots were recorded in Pisky village.

Mortar shelling was recorded near Krasnohorivka village, Mariupol sector. Ukrainian positions in the villages of Hnutove and Talakivka were shelled as well.

For the first time over the recent period, militants opened fire in Shyrokyne. Sniper fire was recorded in Krasnohorivka, Marinka and Shyrokyne.

At 2 pm fierce battle was started near Horlivka. About 5 pm was started the terrorists attacked Ukrainian positions near the villages of Zaitsev and Zhovanka. The terrorists' offencive was held with using of tanks, heavy artillery and mortars. Ukrainian forces responded to the enemy's attacks.
