TODAY UKRAINIANS TRADITIONALLY CELEBRATE SAINT MIKOLAY'S DAY
Traditionally, on December 19 Eastern Christians celebrate the day of Saint Nicholas or Saint Mikolay, how we say in Ukraine. Saint Nicholas is a very esteemed saint in Ukrainian culture. You can find an icon of St. Nicholas in every Ukrainian church, house or even in a city bus.
As befits for an Archbishop of Myra and a participant of Ecumenical Council Saint Nicholas is very venerable saint.
Traditionally Ukrainians consider Saint Nicholas a patron saint of children, but in addition he well known as a saint patron of sailors, travellers, soldiers and prisoners. In other words St. Nicholas patronizes everyone, who seek for adventures and doesn't afraid to challenge the fate!
